Day 3

Much of our time today was spent learning about Runestone Interactive, the source of the online textbook we’ll be using to teach Python. We learned from Brad Miller, the founder of Runestone, who started it as a way of providing online dynamic computer science textbooks. Students can run code inside the textbook, making for a much better learning environment. After lunch we worked on designing a syllabus for our fall course (CMPS 160) and learned some more about supporting active learning. Late in the day we were introduced to Anaconda and Jupyter, which we’ll use in the spring course (CMPS 360). Unfortunately, there weren’t as many opportunities for taking blog photos, but for us it was another great day of learning, collaborating, and having fun!
